From February 25th to 27th 2020, embedded world exhibition & conference, the leading international tradeshow for embedded system technologies, is coming back to Nuremberg Exhibition Centre, Germany. SECO, an established company in the field of embedded electronics and a proud long-term exhibitor will showcase, at booth 1-330, its latest solutions to the tens of thousands of expected visitors.

At embedded world, among the variety of products displayed, there will be a strong focus on NXP-based solutions. SECO, an NXP Gold Partner as well as an Arm leading-edge partner, has always invested heavily in the cooperation with NXP, looking to further strengthen its leadership strategy in designing and manufacturing embedded solutions.

“Our partnership with NXP is such that we chose to invest in developing solutions based on every NXP platform” states Gianluca Venere, SVP Strategy and Business Development at SECO. “Starting from those based on the RT family, looking to expand the portfolio of the SENSE product line – characterized by smart sensors for the Industrial IoT – by using Cortex-M-powered MPUs with inference accelerators. Finally getting to the high-end Layerscape family, to complete our product range with edge server and solutions dedicated to automotive and any other application field requiring Functional Safety”.

SECO’s product portfolio centered on the NXP i.MX 8 Applications Processors, to which the company had early access, is extremely extensive, ranging from the ultra-low power NXP i.MX 8M Mini to the high-performing i.MX8 QuadMax, with advanced graphics, execution and visualization.

Renowned for its asymmetric multi-core processing, industrial machine vision, 4K video processing and dedicated real-time cores, these solutions offer a broad range of standard form factors and SBCs.

Above all, the Qseven® standard is well represented by the brand new μQ7-C72. The μQ7-C72 is a new solution combining high scalability performance, low power consumption and good value. This solution comes with i.MX 8M Mini and i.MX 8M Nano families of processors (respectively up to 1.8 GHz and 1.5 GHz), which ensure high performance at low-power consumption, full-HD resolution and 3D graphics. This module is well equipped with up to 5 USB 2.0 host ports, opt. Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 5.0 module, 1x GbE interface, 8x GPIOs. As for the graphics, it integrates Vivante GC320 accelerator + GC NanoUltra 3D accelerator. Finally, the memory consists of a soldered on-board DDR4-2400, up to 4 GB. The μQ7-C72 is well suited for HMI, multimedia devices and thin client.

The Q7-C26, instead, is a Qseven® Rel. 2.1 compliant module exploiting the broad scalability of the NXP i.MX 8 Applications Processors. This solution comes in three versions: i.MX 8Quad, i.MX 8QuadPlus and i.MX 8QuadMax, all featuring a soldered down LPDDR4-3200 memory and an integrated GPU supporting 2 independent displays. It is equipped with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 host ports, GbE interface, PCI-e Gen 3 ports, CSI camera connector. Its main fields of application are biomedical and medical devices, but also digital signage & infotainment, domotics, industrial automation.

Finally, the Q7-C25 is a Qseven® Rel. 2.1 compliant module based on NXP i.MX 8M Applications Processors with multicore processingDual or Quad Arm Cortex®-A53 cores + general purpose Cortex®-M4 processor for real-time applications. It mounts an integrated GPU, with support for two independent displays, and a soldered down DDR4-2400 memory, up to 4GB. This board is equipped with 1x USB 3.0 and 4x USB 2.0, 8x GPIOs, 1x PCI-e x1, 1x CAN Bus and 2x UART.

With regards to the compact and versatile SMARC form factor, SECO designed a scalable solution based on i.MX 8M Applications Processors: the SM-C12. Featuring multi-core processing (Dual or Quad Arm Cortex®-A53 cores + general purpose Cortex®-M4 processor), an integrated GPU supporting 2 independent displays, a soldered-down LPDDR4-3200 memory up to 4GB, and a vast array of connectivity interfaces, this SMARC Rel. 2.0 compliant module is applicable to any scenario requiring advanced security, connectivity, multimedia and real-time response.

As for Single Board Computers, SECO’s portfolio is wide and varied.

Starting from the SBC-C61, empowered by NXP i.MX 8M Mini Applications Processors. This product stands out for its connectivity, with up to 2x GbE, optional Wi-Fi, up to 2x RS-232 or RS-485 or CAN and opt modems with SIM slot or eSIM. GPU-wise, it mounts GC320 2D accelerator + GCNano Ultra 3D accelerator. Finally, the memory consists of a soldered-down LPDDR4 memory, up to 4GB total. All these features make this SBC well suited for Internet of Things applications, edge computing, multimedia devices and visual computing. What’s more, the SBC-C61 is compatible with SECO’s Industrial IoT platform Edgehog, which features will be showcased at the SECO booth.

The SBC-C43 harnesses the performance of NXP i.MX 8 family of processors in 3.5” form factormaking it an industrial Arm solution for IoT edge computing applications.
